As you know the game is more in between the ears than your ability to hit that great shot.
Thought pattern that created the problem can't solve that same problem and this is why you are here.
I believe everyone has the ability to take ownership of their problems, are accountable on why they have these problems and taking responsibility of creating these problems.
Far too many people blame their problems on outside factors, create excuses why they can't solve their problem or in complete denial of their problem.
We all know that person right?
I started playing golf when I was about 10 years old and fell in love with the that feeling of a great shot. I would spend hours on the range searching for that same rush.
There was never enough balls or enough daylight to get the practice in.
My family was super supportive and would take me to every tournament possible, dropped me off at golf clinics, 1:1 lessons and even updated equipment to provide the best opportunity to succeed.
Was this enough?
Of course not.
I wanted more if it didn't work I'd move onto the next thing, whether it was a swing change, equipment, practice and even my outfit.
From the outside looking in I was that kid that everyone was jealous of and I still didn't get the golf game I wanted.
I definitely didn't have a mentor or coach who had made the same mistakes I had and I definitely didn't know how to learn from my mistakes.
I was that spoilt kid that got everything I wanted and I expected more.
Now fast forward 20+ years of making the same mistake but maybe at a slower pace because I didn't quite have the funds or time I used to. but the behaviour was the same.
I met a guy called Jamie Milne who is a Mind Coach and this sparked a curiosity as I was starting to explore the how the mind could be a powerful thing. I mean I knew it was but now understanding a little bit more it is almost everything.
He was the first ever person to introduce me how to reflect from the past and how keep moving forward. He then taught me how to create a proper goal so I knew I was actually moving forward. Plus taught me how to do it in a way I'd enjoy it and actually be energised from it.
And here is the outcome of this.
My top 3 things that are most important to me are:
1. Golf Ecosystem
2. Family
3. Teaching
Even though it feels like golf is booming since covid my fear is that it's a matter of time until the game of golf starts declining again.
The industry is not focused on creating grass root players ensuring they are nurtured and correctly challenged.
The game is still way too challenging and there is very limited support and information on how to nurture what I like to call closet golfers.
By the time I'm finished with this golf ecosystem a complete novice like a 3 year old will know exactly what steps to take to get to the highest level possible.
I believe the Sunshine Coast is the best place to develop golfers. Let's face it who doesn't love it here and want to live here.
My mission is to help families know how to get everyone involved and teach them all mistakes I made. As we know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing twice expecting a different outcome.
If we surround ourselves with people who think above the line with taking Ownership of their actions, make them accountable and takes responsibility of their actions. We would be living in a great world.
let's beat this game together
